The grass -like Dendrochilum grow as an epiphyte in mossy forests of about 300
– 2500m. The plants are tufted with terete clustered pseudobulbs and terete leaves
resembling fine grass. The flowers are minute and can flower from autumn through summer. Grows in dappled sunlight in warm to intermediate conditions with ample air movement.
We grow them in pots. Delightful miniature.
There has been a confusion about names in the Denrochilum – we have sold this plant as gramineum previously , but think tenellum is the correct name as gramineum has to have basally thickened pseudobulbs about 1cm apart.
DENDROCHILUM -These desirable orchids are called the ‘ Golden chain’ or ‘ Necklace’ orchid because of their arching, pendant racemes of fragrant cream to yellow flowers. A group of some 280 epiphytic or litophytic species from Indonesia, Philippines and surrounding areas
