China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam at low to moderate altitudes. Produces a mass of dark red, waxy flowers on a pendant inflorescence in autumn to winter.
RHYNCHOSTYLIS: This genus of about four monopodial species is related to Vanda. They have fleshy leaves, short thick stems and inflorescences can be pendant or upright with densely packed, medium sized, colourful flowers. They require hot, humid conditions with ample light and grow well in baskets.
