Polystachya - By far the largest genus of epiphytic orchids (about 120 species) found in Africa. Many species of Polystachya are well worth growing, especially the smaller ones. Most are compact plants that take up little space, with long-lasting scented flowers. Plants can be mounted on bark, but need high humidity as the fine roots dry out quickly. syn. chimanimaniensis - AFRICAN: Tropical Africa and Zimbabwe
