Variety suavissimum has a dark mahogany 'eye' in the lip - the normal form is clean yellow. Flowers long-lasting with wonderful substance.
ORIGIN/HABITAT: Widespread throughout southeast Asia. The habitat extends from the Sikkim region of India, through Assam and Burma, across Thailand and Laos, and into Yunnan Province of southwest China. D. chrysotoxum is reported at 1300-5300 ft. (400-1620 m) throughout this range. In Thailand, plants grow near Chiang Mai in deciduous forests above 2000 ft. (610 m). -- Source: Charles Baker
