Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In Kenya, plants are found in forests of all coastal districts, on Maungu hill, and near Nairobi at Thika. Plants usually grow on trees but are occasionally found on rocks. Bulbophyllum - With nearly 2000 species this is one of the largest genera in the orchid family with a widespread distribution. They grow well in high humidity, moderate warmth and some shade - good light is needed for flowering.
