ORIGIN/HABITAT: Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand. The type specimen was discovered in the Shan Hills of Myanmar, but details of habitat elevation were not reported. Plants have since been found in the mountains of neighboring northwest Thailand at 900-1500 m

The inflorescence forms an umbel of brightly coloured, fragrant flowers.
Named after a German orchid gardener who collected plants in Mexico in the 1800's

Bulbophyllum - With nearly 2000 species this is one of the largest genera in the orchid family with a widespread distribution. They grow well in high humidity, moderate warmth and some shade - good light is needed for flowering.
